Carver of Wood, Sean Hanifee

You never know what you might find posted on this website. I may post pictures of the entertainment center I have created from pallets and wood laying around in the woods, stuff I have created for our own home out of log slices, remodeled bedrooms, etc... Those services I am happy to provide in your home too (if travel is reasonable) since my wife it tired of wood overtaking our home!!! Chainsaw carvings, knives, strange sculpture, but mostly ducks and detailed carving. I use knives, a Foredom tool, chainsaws, grinders, table saws, sanders and CARVING KNIVES to create the pieces I offer for sale. Some of my best work is yet to come. You can see on these pages the wide variety of things I do when I would otherwise be "eaten by the chair" in our living room, in front of the TV.

A few notes about some of the items shown: The Oriole Bird was carved from an Oak Log after my son (who is actually in the Orioles organization, RHP) challenged me to carve the Angry Bird from a log. I did it in one weekend and plan to put it on the front stoop of our house unless someone wants to buy it!! Everything is for sale.....
The Bear Head was my first chainsaw attempt (about a month ago) and I learned that I really like  it. I have gotten better since then, but it is for sale too! Something you want from a log? Let me know!!

The Ducks are my FAVORITE to look at and carve. Have gotten better at paining---use airbrush a lot more than I use to. Take notice of the detail in ALL the feathers, that is my favorite part of the carvings and what makes them look the most realistic.

The Nest is located in Rawley Springs, VA. I am originally from the Eastern Shore of MD. I grew up with ducks and geese flying over and hunting deer for one week out of the year. I ate crabs as often as I could get to them!!

Now, crabs are a four hour drive away, turkeys run through my yard, I occasionally hunt "resident geese" that have annoyed a local farmer, the ducks live between the same creek banks year round (no migration) and I have deer and bear in my yard on a daily basis. Things have changed, but I still have a passion for creating things other people love out of wood.

Post a comment, let me know that putting this site together was worth while! Let me know what I can carve for you or what you might like to purchase that is sitting in my basement trying to blend in with all the other things I have collected and accumulated over the years.
